Our congratulations to Matt Fleace, who is graduating this
semester. An Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Human Ecology major from
Loogootee, Matt has been a part of the BUSP staff since his first semester at
I.U. As soon as he got behind our service desk, he began asking
questions. Indeed, he states that his favorite thing about working at the
I.C. is talking to and learning from the other employees. In no time at
all, he had lots of answers and he became one of our most outstanding
Public Service Assistants. He was promoted to Senior Circulation Assistant in his junior
year, a position generally held by graduate students. Matt has been a
recipient of our Caught in the Act Award, and this year he was named BUSP’s Student
Employee of the Year.
Matt’s future plans include a stint in the Peace Corp.
If we know Matt, he’ll be asking lots of questions during his training and once
he arrives at his destination. And no doubt, his presence will be a
wonderful benefit to those he works with and serves.
As he prepares to leave us behind, he offers some simple
advice: “Serving with a smile will make your day and their day
better.” Matt’s presence at BUSP has certainly made us smile and our days
better. He states that he will miss those he leaves here. That
works both ways, Matt, as we will certainly miss you! May all your trails
be happy ones.
