In case
you haven’t noticed, the phone at the service desk doesn’t ring very loud when someone is trying to call us. We’ve been having trouble hearing when it
rings, especially during times when the library is very busy & noisy. As a
result, we’ve missed some calls from faculty members.
As we work toward finding a solution,
we’re trying something new.
We’ve set
it up so when someone calls the main phone number, both that phone &
the phone at the reference desk will ring. If you hear the reference desk
phone ringing, please check the circulation phone because more than likely there will be a call coming in.
It's important to remember it’s still part of the circulation workers job duties to answer the phone.
Fingers crossed this will help us hear the telephone better & serve our patrons better.
