Core Values Update

The work you contributed at our all-staff meeting relating to our core values has not been forgotten.  The full-time staff members made their contributions at a recent staff meeting.  Christina is currently in the process of putting everything together for us.  BUSP's finalized core values statement will be coming soon to a beloved library near you!

Late Birthday Celebration!

Snow, snow, and more snow, plus an illness has made for a delay in our celebration of our February birthdays.  Anastasia (Feb. 6) and Brook (Feb. 15) are not forgotten!  Their birthdays will be celebrated with cupcakes next Wednesday, March 4.

Happy birthday (better late than never) to our February babies!

Cesar Caught in the Act

Cesar was Caught in the Act of making sure our guests received the help they needed when he stayed behind the BUSP service desk for two extra hours.  And on the weekend, no less.  When a co-worker unexpectedly missed her shift, Cesar was there to the rescue.

Thanks, Cesar, for your dedication!

Hours Over Spring Break?

Rather than spending money over spring break, would you be interested in earning some instead?  The I.C. will be open Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 during the break period.  Let me (treynold@Indiana.edu) know if you are interested in working some hours.

Missed Punches

I'm still receiving at least one missed punch notification per day.  Please, please, please do your best to log in when you arrive.

It's Not Just Us...

Remember when we sat in a circle at the All-Staff Meeting and told stories about odd questions we've been asked or conversations we're overheard while at BUSP?  Apparently, we're not the only place where unusual questions come up.  Today I received the transcript of a conversation between a friend of mine (a former BUSP employee) and a caller.  My friend currently works for the IU Philosophy Dept.  Here is what she reported to me:

My friend: “Philosophy Department, How can I help you?”

Caller: “Yeah, I need to talk to someone to answer a question.”

My friend: “Well, I am the Graduate Coordinator.”

Caller: “I have a question about Jean Paul Sartre.”

Friend: “OK.”

Caller: “Is it true he never took a bath and put the stench in Existentialism?”

My friend beings laughing.

Caller: “I really need to talk with someone.” (very serious)

My friend: “I’m sorry, no one is around right now. It’s lunch time right now.”

Caller: “Ok. I’ll call back later….”  Click

So it's not just us.
