IU Day - Wednesday April 23rd

This coming Wednesday April 23rd is IU Day. I guess it's a day to celebrate all that's IU and raise money. While we may not have a special collection, like the Lilly Library, we have a most awesomely special staff. 🥰 To celebrate us and IU, let's wear something with IU on it on Wednesday.

Thanks!

Treat Bags - Spring 2025

With appreciation for all your hard work so far this semester as well as through the rest of the semester & finals week, we’ve put together a treat bag, filled with snacks, for each of you. They are located on the table in the break area. Please feel free to take your bag and enjoy it. We appreciate each of you for being a part of the Business/SPEA Library Team and for all you do to make our library awesome. We couldn't do what we do without you! We wish you all the best for the end of the semester & final exams.  THANK YOU!

PS Please feel free to help yourself to the extras in the bowl.

We hope that each of you has a fantastic summer.

Myanmar Earthquake

As many of you are aware, Myanmar was hit with a magnitude 7.7 earthquake a little over two weeks ago, causing almost 4,000 fatalities to date and triggering multiple humanitarian crises across the region. What you may also know is that our very own Joyce Thant is from Myanmar. The Myanmar Student Association at IU, of which Joyce is co-president, is collaborating with a local nonprofit, the Narra Foundation, to raise funds for humanitarian relief efforts through a GoFundMe account:

All of this is happening in the midst of an ongoing civil war, making conditions especially difficult and the need for aid all the more vital. Joyce wanted to make it clear that even the smallest donations are helpful since U.S. dollars go very far in her home country. Thank you so much for any help you are able to give.

Coming Soon - Graduating Student Spotlights

GRADUATING STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS

Keep an eye on this blog as we're going to be highlighting the graduating students on our staff. It will be fun to learn something about our co-workers and their plans for when they leave IU to start their next exciting adventure.

Important End of the Spring Semester Information for Library Staff

1. Library Hours/Schedule - As we look toward the end of the semester, it’s always good idea to remind everyone the spring semester goes until Friday, May 9th at 5:00pm.  You are expected to work your shifts or find a sub during that time.

2. Final Exams - It’s also a good idea to double-check your final exam schedule since final exams don’t always happen during your regularly scheduled class time. Make sure you are not going to have a conflict between your final exam and your work schedule. If so, please post a sub notice as soon as possible.

3. Extra Hours - If you want to pick up some extra hours, earn some extra money and have the availability from now until the end of the semester, please keep an eye on the subs list and help us out when you are able. We will really appreciate it.

4. Reminder - Please clean out anything of yours left in the fridge and grab any items in the office area that belong to you, such as sweaters, phone chargers, etc.

5. Graduates - If you are graduating & moving on from the library, please leave an address and/or email so we can stay in contact. If you are on social media & want to connect with Jeri, please touch base with her. This is a bittersweet moment for us full time staff as we are so excited for you to start this new exciting chapter in your life, but we’re sad to see you go. Please know that we will miss each of you.

6. Fall 2025 Semester - The fall semester starts on August 25th, which means regular library hours and work schedule start that day. if you are planning on returning to us in the fall, please have your class schedule & availability to Matt as soon as possible.

7. Treat Bags – Will be coming soon, so keep checking the table in the back.

8. Blog – Keep reading the blog, there will be some important and interesting posts coming out
